Tampa Bay Rays Information

The Tampa Bay Rays play home games throughout each Rays Schedule at Tropicana Field, which they have done since the team came into the majors via expansion back in 1998. They are celebrating their 20th anniversary this year, and hope to give fans plenty to cheer for in the summer and fall, and perhaps even into late October. Rays tickets are very popular, and they are made more so by the fact that the squad is in the same division is arguably the two most well-known and historic teams in all of baseball.

The squad began play back in 1998 as the Tampa Bay Devil Rays, missing the postseason in their first 10 tries. In an attempt to shake things up and rejuvenate the franchise, they got rid of the Devil, shortening their official name to what it is now. The following season, Evan Longoria won Rookie of the Year, Joe Maddon won Manager of the Year, and the squad made the World Series.

The entire season established a culture of winning that continued throughout the next several seasons, as the they won at least 90 games between 2010 in 2013, while Tampa Bay Rays tickets became very popular. The American League East is arguably the most difficult division in all of professional sports. The two aforementioned teams that Tampa Bay squares off against around 20 times per season are the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.

Both of those franchises are not only steeped in history and tradition, but also loaded with cash to spend and a very attractive place for free agents to land. South Florida is obviously also a very attractive place for climate and cultural reasons, among others.

Longtime slugger Evan Longoria has left the fold, opting to travel across the nation to play for the San Francisco Giants, and former Giant Denard Span and Matt Duffy are settling in in Tampa Bay and hoping to do big things this year and the next. The anchor of the pitching staff continues to be feisty and electric hurler Chris Archer A fleet of closers are going to help the team lock down the seventh, eighth and ninth innings this year. There are an abundance of opportunities to purchase cheap Rays tickets now, including to some of the many games that will involve the Red Sox and the Yankees.
